Deirdre Cooke, Principal Occupational Therapist, Function for Life Pty Ltd.

Deirdre is an Occupational Therapist with 30+ years working with adults of all ages and a broad range of medical conditions including stroke and neurological problems, following orthopaedic surgery, lower limb amputation, vision impairment and conditions of ageing. 

Deirdre enjoys working with clients and families and helping people work towards goals that are important to them. 

Deirdre also enjoys teaching Occupational Therapy skills to students and clinicians. She has given conference presentations and workshops around Australia and in other countries including Singapore, England, Scotland, New Zealand and the USA on various aspects for stroke and neurological rehabilitation.

Occupational Therapy services for adults are provided in-home or at clinic rooms in Brisbane. Services provided include:

  • Home safety assessment and home modifications

  • Stroke, Parkinson's Disease, brain injury and other conditions for neurological rehabilitation

  • Falls prevention

  • Assistive equipment prescription - eg. bathroom equipment, wheelchairs, eating and dressing aids

  • Low vision adaptations

  • Cognitive rehabilitation

  • Dailing living skills assessment and retraining to support independence

  • Lymphoedema management
